Inspired by the salt marshes on my beloved Lieutenant Island on Cape Cod, Massachusetts, this original watercolor is all about the beauty and calm of the salt marshes on the bayside of the Cape. The first time I stayed on the island, I noticed something that isn’t typical in the mid Atlantic region where I grew up….the grasses growing in the water at the edge of the bay! Where there’s a lot of human activity, it’s gone but out on the island I was delighted to see that it remains. I love that nature is still strong there, and it fills me with joy every time I get to be there. The light quality in that area is remarkable too, as the moisture in the air with bay so near ocean, just sparkles and it feels magical.
